Trig Point Mast

This post kinda goes with the last one, the 1/4 wave portable antenna as this is the mast for it.

This mast is made from re-purposed tent poles, bought from eBay by one of those companies that tidies the mess up that people these days leave at festivals, if the tents can’t be re-used then the spares are sold off, handy for me!

Mast uses a 90mm diameter disc to locate the antenna onto the top of the trig point and 3 guy ropes to attach to the 3 lashing points, the lower disc is a simple piece that has been drilled in the centre and a M10 countersunk riv-nut used to create a boss for the mast to connect to, I was just lucky that the M10 Riv-Nut was the right size for the metal sleeves on the poles!

The guy rope ring (Upper Ring) is simply a stainless washer with 3 holes drilled into it to provide a loop for the paracord.

This mast has proved more than sturdy in the wind and gives around 4M height above ground level

I have drilled the centre of the top pole out and glued a M6 flanged riv-nut in to the top to provide a nice mount for whichever antenna I choose to use with it.

It all packs away nicely into a cheap chinese bag that came with something or other, packs into my rucksack and even with the UHF antenna and coax weighs less than 1Kg.
